Blades Australia Pty Ltd has history a company was established in 1966 manufacturing power saw blades called Omega Saws Pty Ltd. The company was successful and flourished for over a decade in the manufacture of hand power saw blades, by this time the hand saw was becoming a museum item and the power saw was dropping in price and Australian manufacture was moving overseas at an alarming rate.
The company had tooling but lost its markets, The business was sold to a mining supply company and went into mothballs for over 5 years.
In around 1985 the family of Omega Saws witnessed a void in the market for agricultural blades changed the name of Omega Saws to Blades Australia Pty Ltd and the company was reborn.
The company supplied locally manufactured blades Australia wide but the same demise that confronted Omega Saws was looming again as manufacturers slowly closed, and a flood of imported blades mainly from Spain, Italy, Brazil, USA and South Africa meant that things had to change. The family sold the company to a private investor, who was dedicated to maintaining the blade manufacturing side of the business, and that Blades Australia remained competitive. Underutilised machinery was then diversified focusing on contract work for a major mining supply company which maintained profitability.
The company was able to further upgrade plant and equipment and further diversified with the purchase of a high definition plasma cutter, the blade division gaining cost reductions and improved quality as more work was automated slowly taking back product previous lost to imported products.
Today Blades Australia Pty Ltd stands able to compete with most imported blades and in most cases, by the use of chrome based spring steel and precision heat treatment and tempering, our quality surpasses the imported blade.
Our research and development of our turf cutter blade using chrome based spring steel for our bottom blades and boron for our side plates, has extended the life of the blade. The side plates can be supplied as standard, delivering a R C hardness of 48rc or they can be supplied as a super hardened side plate that registers 62 RC hardiness. This process will increases the life of the blade by at least 50%. However, if you are interested in really saving money and getting the most out of your turf cutter blades we offer a side plate that has a removable insert. Trials have shown that the bottom blade on the turf cutter will out perform the side plate by at least three hundred percent. By manufacturing a side plate with a re placeable insert that has been super hardened you get to use your turf cutter blade three or more times before it is destined to the recycling bin.
The company is proud of its qualified staff and we are confident that we can assist in all matters associated to spring steel and steel products. If we cannot directly assist we will be able to direct to who may be able. As history has proven Blades Australia now supplies factory direct to the end user and with high quality and good service most of our customers are long term giving the company the customer and our employees security.
